Dictionaries are essential for looking up the meanings, spellings, and pronunciations of words, while lexicons are used for understanding the vocabulary and terminology of a specific subject or field. The dictionary and the lexicon are not the same thing. A dictionary is a collection of words with their definitions, often organized alphabetically. On the other hand, a lexicon refers to the vocabulary of a language or a specific group of people. While a dictionary is a tool used to look up the meanings of words, a lexicon encompasses the entire vocabulary of a language or group. **
